ENGLISH LANGUAGE TEACHING

English is undoubtedly a beautiful language. We don’t need to discourse upon its importance in society for being a global language, widely used in scientific research, business, education, travel, technology, trade and commerce, diplomacy, mass entertainment, etc. I guess you, the reader of this website, may work in one of the areas mentioned above and understand the need for good English language competence. I’m not a teacher who will promise “a quick and breakthrough studying without boring grammar” to you. I have heard such an advertisement to make people believe they will teach you to speak in a short time with no grammar because it is boring.

The following are LIES!!!

1 THOSE WHO CLAIM “ENGLISH LANGUAGE GRAMMAR IS BORING” LIE TO YOU.

English grammar is as beautiful and fascinating, simple and so sophisticated in its simplicity as the language itself, and you must fall in love with it with a good teacher who truly understands it! You can say so much without many words just by using the correct tense or collocation, a preposition, etc. I always tell my students there is no such thing as, “You must think in English”. No! We all think the way we do because we were born with the brains we have. Whether you speak English, Slovak, Spanish, Chinese, Italian, or any other language, you still have the same capacity for thinking. Our brains will not switch to different thinking when you speak a foreign language. What makes a difference is the grammar. You need to govern the grammar to master the language and speak it fluently. When you speak English correctly, you just use the correct patterns that English is based on.

English is like Maths. You can deal with any phenomena in Maths only if you are familiar with its equations, rules and formulas. English is just Maths in words instead of numbers. You can never learn a language without grammar. However, I promise English patterns are easy to understand and use with me. Don’t get scared if you aren’t good at Maths! You can still be excellent at English!

2 THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A “BREAKTROUGH TEACHING”!

Studying a foreign language is always hard work. But hard does not necessarily mean disgusting, difficult to understand, or unpleasant if you put great effort into it! Take an English expression “study by heart” = to memorize/from memory. Isn’t it beautiful to believe if you really want to remember something, you can only do it by heart to manage it? Like with everything. Honestly, there is much “by heart” stuff in English language studies.

However, remembering is pretty easy if you first understand and get it. I promise!

3 IT IS A BIG LIE TO SAY, “ENGLISH USES ONLY 3 TENSES”. NO!

As I already said, English grammar is essential to reaching proficiency. Tenses are nothing but beautiful ways of expressing the extra-language reality. No other language has this capacity. It is not about naming/labelling things around; it is about your approach, attitude, time-reference and much more when it comes to tenses too. Educated people use all the tenses because they all have their particular importance. It’s much different to say, “I come from London” and “I’m coming from London”, isn’t it?

4 “I CAN NEVER UNDERSTAND A NATIVE SPEAKER DESPITE I CAN SPEAK

ENGLISH” – you know why?

If you find yourself unable to understand a native speaker, either fae2face or on the radio or in movies, despite studying hard and believing you are pretty good at it, something must be wrong, right? In most cases, the problem lies in your bad pronunciation! Once you learn a word to enunciate wrong, you fail to understand. How could you detect what the other says if they say it differently from you – and you don’t have a transcript that you may understand!

Yes, it is sooo important to have perfect pronunciation in English! Don’t worry; I promise I will teach you how to get it right quickly and easily.
